Two ways to pay, one notebook
Some clients buy a card of ten, some pay by the month, and some just turn up. Each needs counting differently, and the notebook does not know which is which.
A 10-class card lives as tally marks on the back page, and nobody is sure whether last Tuesday was crossed off.
A monthly plan ends on a date nobody wrote down, so it either runs on for free or lapses without a word.

When a client with sessions left on a pack starts a monthly plan, tick Session credit. What those sessions cost comes off the plan's price, the subtraction is shown above it, and the sessions are closed so nothing is counted twice.

What instructors ask before they move their cards and memberships into an app.
Set up your packs and plans once, then sell one to a client by picking it from your saved offers. A pack loses a session each time they check in and can expire after the period you choose. A plan runs from its start date to its end date, for one, three, six or twelve months or dates you pick yourself.
Start the plan from the client's page. If they still have unused sessions, a Session credit box appears: tick it, and what those sessions cost is taken off the plan's price. The sessions are then closed, so they cannot be used as well.
The visit is recorded against their plan and nothing is deducted. If they also have a pack, its sessions stay untouched while the plan is running.
Yes. Pausing freezes the end date until you resume, so a client on holiday does not lose their month. Cancelling ends it there and then, and the unused part of what they paid is recorded as a refund. The confirmation shows you the amount first.
Yes. At check-in, someone without a pack or plan can pay for that single class on the spot, or pay later and owe it.
